Our consortium member CATS starts a series of workshops to High-Performance Computing in the area of SDL fluid on 23. April 2024

The theme of the first date will be: Introduction to Finite Element Methods for Flow problems

NHR4CES

Workshop series: techniques for the solution of fluid flow problems

In this course, the CATS various techniques are used to Solution of fluid flow problems using the Finite element method treated. Topics of numerical instabilities arising out of the underlying formulation, are presented. In addition, we will discuss the relevant stabilisation techniques that are used to cope with such instability. The course consists of a combination of presentations and practical programming exercises, in which the different methods discussed and a basic Finite element solver with Python are implemented.

The Start of the series – for more information / further information about this workshop series.

In this course, we will cover various techniques to solve fluid flow problem using the finite element method. Topics of numerical instabilities that result from the underlying formulation will be presented. Furthermore, we will review relevant to the stabilization techniques that are used to tackle search instabilities. The course consists of a combination of presentations and hands-on coding exercises, in which the various methods are discussed and implemented within a basic finite element solver using Python.
